Below you will see current listing, pending and December home sales data for the City of Bath and Towns of Brunswick and Topsham, which are the major towns in Maine Home Realty’s Market Area.
During December, inventories of homes for sale dropped 20% in both Bath and Brunswick, but only about 4% in Topsham. We have no explanation for the staying power of Topsham sellers, but do note that Topsham current listings have hovered in the 50-60 range most of the year, reaching a peak of 70 homes on the market last July.
Pending Sales in December remained steady across all towns as compared to the November pending sales data. The properties under contract are our most current information as to marketplace activity, so “steady” is excellent at this time of year.
Home Sales in Bath rebounded from November’s record low figure and Brunswick and Topsham Sales kept pace with November numbers. All in all, 2013 wrapped up nicely in terms of home sales in our area.
The weather in our region, of late, hasn’t been conducive to much of anything other than sitting in front of a cozy fire with a warm beverage. Beginning with the ice storm (and accompanying power outages) at Christmas to the sub-zero temperatures at New Year’s, to the rain & wind (and 50 degree temperatures???) of today – – we can only echo one of the more popular sentiments of 2013: KEEP CALM and CARRY ON!
